X-PLANE 10 and 11 version now available for early access download

Today we are inviting you to download and test the latest version of FSXPilot, which supports X-PLANE 10 and 11. Version 2.7 can be used with X-PLANE 10 or 11 AND ALL FSX versions that have been supported in the past. Included in the download is our brand new X-PLANE plugin, which controls the interaction between X-PLANE and FSXPilot. All you have to do is:

  • Download and install FSXPilot V 2.7 (go to download section)
  • Copy the Folder "XPLPilot" from the folder "X-PLANE 10 and 11 Plugin" into the folder "plugins" which can be found in  "Resources" of the X-PLANE home directory.
  • Start X-PLANE
  • Select XPLPilot -> Panel from the X_PLANE Plugins menu
  • On the panel, "find" FSXPilot.exe by using the resp. button
  • Start FSXPilot ONLY by using the resp button on the plugin panel
  • Use FSXPilot as always

This early release version will be updated soon. If you find bugs please report them. We will publish instruction videos for the FSXP X-PLANE version in the near future.

PRO users will remain supported and can use their registration numbers to unlock this new X-PLANE version free of charge.

Stay tuned.

PRO version will stay

The situation around FSXPilot PRO has again changed. Funny enough, the reason was:  X-PLANE 11. We were working hard to get a FSXPilot X-PLANE version ready and you guys contacted us with many new ideas concerning FSXPilot. All in all, X-PLANE testing has been extreme pleasure and brought back the old simulator joy that we once had when FSXPilot was created.

We decided that PRO version will stay, although updates in the FSX version will be less frequent.  In addition, in autumn a new PRO version (FSXPilot PRO 2) will published, then supporting nearly the complete FS world: FSX, FSX Steam, P3D, X-PLANE 10 and 11 - all in one package.

Stay tuned.

Testing for X-PLANE 11 !

We are currently testing our newly developed X-Plane plugin that interacts with a special version of FSXPilot. This short smartphone film shows a GPS autolanding approach to EDDM in a B737-800 in heavy turbulences and strong crosswind. In X-Plane 11. Only fractures. No fatalities :-)

To be honest: We fell strongly in love with many aspects X-Plane 11. A new project has been born. The new FSXPilot product will hopefully be available in 2017.

Available for Flight Sim World Testing ?

Dovetail's 64 bit "Flight Sim World" is out now and can be purchased "early access" via Steam. Looks promising. As the simulation is technically based on a 64 bit FSX and Simconnect is available for FSW, we would be interested to know if any of you guys were already able to successfully use FSXPilot in FSW. The first three conclusive reports (installation HOWTO and test flight) will receive a free FSXPilot PRO version key.

Thanks for your help.

Short Test Ride FSXPilot and P3D V 4

Because of an angry mail that reached us these days we decided, although initially not intended, to grab a copy of P3D V4 and test functionality of FSXPilot. We can now confirm that FSXPilot works great with 64 bit PREPAR3D V 4. In our test setting, we had FSX Steam version (and X-PLANE 11) installed, of course we had FSXPilot installed too. Then we added Prepare3D V 4 and after a rather short installation process we powered up a Beech King Air 350 and flew a pleasant test ride with flawless GPS autolanding - without any additional action.

Situations may be a bit different in P3D V4 standalone installations. Here, you must install Simconnect from your P3D home directory (...\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK) before FSXPilot. Then install FSXPilot. Please also use the XPACK  version of simconnect.dll (all available versions are contained in FSXPilot subfolder "Simconnect - alternate versions"). Copy the simconnect.dll from XPACK version to FSXPilot home dir.

In case you have any additional observations/bugs/tips concerning operation or installation of FSXPilot with P3D V4 please drop us a line.

One last remark: We cannot carry everybody to flightsim heaven personally and instantly. In case something does not work as expected, please always try to solve the problem first by reading all FAQ, support articles and use your brillant IT skills to optimize the chain simulator <-> API (Simconnect) <-> FSXPilot. In case of requests please resist from writing one line emails, be friendly, add your name, inform us whether you are a PRO user and provide as much information of your system (and the problem) as possible. In the end, in 99% of cases things will work.

Now we will go flying :-)

FSXPilot works in P3D V 4

Today we were notified that FSXPilot works "very very well" with PREPAR3D V 4. Thank you, Hans, for testing that out :-)

New program update  !

Today on Feb 24th 2017 a new update was published for the shareware and the PRO version. FSXPilot can now fly radials TO and FROM NAV targets. In addition, we added the ability to follow airways. Simply type (in the area of Munich, EDDM) "fly awy T702 BADIT" into the command input box to make FSXPilot turn the plane into the nearest waypoint of the T702 airway, then follow the airway until BADIT. From here, FSXPilot will remain on present heading.

Thanks, Zack, for your input !

In PRO version, the users received another additional bonus: Just use the mouse wheel on the EFIS window to quickly zoom in and out the FSX view (f.e. close instrument view). Pressing the middle mouse button and move the mouse on the EFIS panel will quickly pan the FSX view to a new location (f.e. quick left and right).

Thank you, registered users, for supporting our project. And - we received a lot of positive feedback recently - thanks a lot !

Google earth 3D live camera now available via FSXPilot !

September 14th 2016: You requested, we implemented it. Now you can continuously check your exact GPS position inflight by calling a live camera view in Google Earth. Please follow these steps:

  • Automatically update to Shareware version 2.58 or PRO 1.18
  • Install google earth
  • Start FSX, load a plane, start FSXPilot, takeoff
  • Select "Write pos. every 4 sec" from FSXPilot AP panel "Google earth" menu
  • Activate the KML file  "flyto_position_every_4s.kml" in FSXPilot's main directory or from your desktop.
  • End of session: Always discard the google earth view.

After a few seconds, Google Earth will magically zoom to the position of your plane and follow the plane throughout the entire session. A beautiful 3D experience  .... and extremely helpful in areas you do not know,  bad weather or at night.

Btw: free for all. Enjoy !

Fly the Harrier with FSXPilot !

June 26th 2016: Can you fly a Harrier with FSXPilot ? We recently thought - no ! But, to our surprise, the UKMIL harriers hover well with FSXPilot in helicopter mode. There are some tricks needed, so we made a support video.

  • Glider now does not crash the FSXPilot app (fuel zero capacity bug)
  • FSXPilot notify icon now gets reliably removed when program exits

Long-awaited new version 1.3 of Android App is out !

Together with two automatic updates for both shareware (2.45)  and PRO version (1.07), our FSXPilot Android App version 1.3 has been published on Google Play store.

In short, this version features the ability to simulate (mock , spoof)  the GPS of your Android phone or tablet with the GPS coordinates of your FSX or P3D aircraft. This way, you will be able to use Google Maps or Google Earth on your phone to display the current location of your aircraft and use any of their location based services. In addition, this opens the world of Android moving maps, aviation apps, track recorders and flight chart apps for you.  Use any of those as if you were sitting in a real plane with real GPS coordinates.  The image below shows XCSoar (example of great freeware) on Android connected to FSX SE via FSXPilot (desktop) and our FSXPilot app.

Apart from that, several enhancements have been implemented. The possibilities are endless. The 1.3 update is free and does not require PRO. Enjoy !

New versions for PRO and shareware ...

Automatic updates for both shareware (2.42)  and PRO version (1.04) have just been published. We removed a bug in SID procedures (double blue lines) and restored the missing Server IP display during startup. PRO users are now able to define specific Maxbank and Maxpitch values for each entry in the aircraft database. All users get a nice little feature: The currently locked target is displayed on the EFIS in lightblue together with distance, ETE and ETA.

Enjoy !

New versions for PRO and shareware ...

Automatic updates for both shareware (2.41)  and PRO version (1.03) have been just published. Baro pressures are now shown in inHg or in hPa depending on a new check mark in 'General options'. We have three new short demo flight plans and better speed and flap management during ILS and GPS auto landings. In short, you are now able to 'overrule' FSXPilot during the approach: If you set speed lower or flaps higher than in FSXPilot standard settings, FSXPilot will not set back flaps or speed.  Great solution to gradually bleed off speed during approaches with difficult planes.

We have a new support article: How to use the exec command (PRO) and how to control every aspect of an ILS approach

In addition, PRO users get a free exclusive menu entry and dialog box for input of GPS coordinates (AP menu -> 'Extras' -> 'Fly/taxi GPS ...')  with instant waypoint saving and follow up navigation:

Simply enter your LAT and LON coordinates and altitude, press 'Ok', and off you fly to any GEO location around the world.

FSXPilot PRO has landed !

Universal autopilot and FMC with "auto-landing wherever you want" functionalities in FSX, FSX-Steam, and P3D, different skins, a view system with DHM plus a co-pilot voice recognition experience, a basic flying school for fixed wing and helos, and much more for the price of a standard flight planner ? Finally there !

Today we are excited to announce the launch of the FSXPilot PRO version. Enjoy the new view system, create skins and comfortably manage your aircraft database. In addition, a Windows Help File to be used from the AP Panel is included. Be the first to receive exclusive functions and keep the fire burning in our development studio. Please visit the purchase page and grab your serial, which will entitle you to use FSXPilot PRO on three different computers.

And we can finally tell the secret of the additional bonus function in PRO: We have a new exclusive flightplan command (exec) that enables to execute Windows Shell Commends directly from a flightplan. So call the web browser, Excel, Word, or a PDF chart (with page and zoom reference) automatically during different flight situations. Go to the support article How to use the exec command (PRO) and how to control every aspect of an ILS approach to see how to do that.

So please install the shareware version first, then Purchase FSXPilot PRO, receive your serial via email and go flying .....

Version 2.3 is available !

FSXPilot, the universal autopilot for FSX, FSX Steam and P3D, is now available in version 2.3.

Planned primarily to remove a touch and go bug (left deviation on runway after landings) there are plenty of new functions available. The feature list of 2.3 is as follows:

  • Bug removed: no left deviation after landing during touch and go's (Thanks Tommy for the report)
  • Helicopter hover: LAT error and LON error (EFIS) now show up in green if abs values are < 2.5 m
  • Helicopter hover : Sets v/s = 0 ft/min when final hover is reached
  • Helicopter heading to target during "hover at xxx" and "land at xxx" now direct and more precise
  • Precision of helicopter target vector land routine ("land at xxx") improved again (below 0.5-2 m) by
    (1) Final descent during helicopter target vector land only starts if both LAT and LON offsets are < 2.5 m (green) for more than 10 seconds
    (2) Higher hover altitude
  • User heading is automatically set from last targetbearing when helicopter enters hover mode
  • Pressing SPD button during helicopter hover now correctly exits hover mode
  • New: A vertical takeoff for helicopters is now available in qselect menu (Thanks me)
  • New: flightplan command "run takeoff vertical"
  • Save GPS waypoint dialog window now top
  • "Hover here" now present in quickselect also without target
  • "gear down" or "gear up" only performed by Anna if gear is retractable
  • New: Flightplan and live command "set brake power <num>" where <num> is brake power in percent

BTW: Brake problems with your F18 hornet on ground ? No FSXPilot issue. See the new FAQ entry.

Enjoy.

Version 2.1

FSXPilot supports standard instrument departures (SID) and standard terminal arrival routes (STAR). In cooperation with Navigraph we were able to provide a more recent AIRAC (1502) including the SID and STAR data. Fly the professional routes from and to your favorite departure and destination airports. Select SID's effectively according to their departure direction and STAR's according to the distance of your aircraft relative to the first STAR waypoint. Include SID's and STAR's in your flightplans. Graphically depict STAR's and SID's on the EFIS.  2.0 further enables to switch to 'next tracking target' by a new EFIS button. Select near user defined GPS targets from the quickselect menu on the fly (thanks Steve for the idea). Save user defined GPS targets from the quickselect menu.

The new version has been heavily tested. This update is a major rewrite, both internally and functionally. Please always install in a new directory, to be able to roll back if necessary. And - please watch the YouTube videos. They are great to learn the necessary functions. watch them now

And now let's go flying.

FSXPilot 2.0  contains an AIRAC (courtesy of Navigraph) that is several cycles behind. If you need to update your AIRAC, get the latest cycle from Navigraph. Make sure you purchase the PSS version. A Howto will be in the support section shortly.

FSXPilot is the world's leading and most versatile autopilot for fixed wing aircraft and helicopters in flight simulation.

This program was started in Orbiter Space Simulation and later ported to the Microsoft Flight Simulator. FSXPilot also works great in Prepar3D, even in the brand new version 2. Especially for you P3D users we have recently (1.37) added support for "the beast" Raptor F22 :-)  Currently, we develop for FSX/Prepar3D only, but there are still (old and limited) versions for FS9 available for download.

FSXPilot is freeware. Be warned: After you've learned FSXPilot, you will be able to fly them all and won't go without it ...

After the install, FSXPilot will open in two separate windows on your desktop screen. The main window is for autopilot control, the EFIS window is for navigation. The best way to use FSXPilot is to start  FSX (windowed mode only) and later start FSXPilot with it's two separate windows. You can position the FSXpilot windows on your screen wherever you want and save this position as your default. If FSX is in windowed mode you might experience a "stop" of the flight simulator when you click another window on your screen. This "stop" can be switched off in FSX options.  FSX full screen and FSXPilot is only possible if you have two monitors attached to your computer.

FSXPilot version 1.50 is finally available and supports Windows Speech output and speech recognition.

Please check out the Speech recognition support file for more information.

It is advisable to use a good headset. Please enable speech recognition in your Windows 7, Vista or 8 system and do some basic speech training with the US English WSR version !

Our brand new android version is out. Please Check the play store.

FSXPilot for android  unpacks the whole power of the FSXPilot project on your phone device. Input things and waypoint control are done on your phone / tablet, the rest is performed by the extremely powerful FSXP standard software on your flightsim computer.

With FSXPilot for android, you have a versatile and clever new flighsim controller on your android phone or tablet. Also great stuff for reactivating your old phone. Possibilities of operation are endless. Plan your sightseeing flights with real world landmarks on google map - simply tapping your waypoints onto the screen and follw the plane turning into the new headings. Break all kinds of records by long distance flights controlled over your phone - why not fly around the world ? Try ground taxi on a system with P3D installed and you will be absolutely amazed. Send all kinds of inflight commands to your aircraft - flight level , speed and heading changes, holding commands, GPS- or ILS auto land commands. Even turn your engines off / on via the phone and release the wheel brakes.

Play time again !

We have published a new program update on September 30th 2013 (1.35) and a newly linked version today, Oct 1st 2013. If you downloaded before Oct 1st 2013 11:40 UTC please download the latest update again.

Many users have requested to add the ability to select specific runways during ILS or GPS autolanding approaches. In version 1.35, this has become reality. Right-click the EFIS quickselect menu and choose from runways in the area of approx 50 nm around you. Then select GPS- or ILS autolanding from the menu.

Second, we had request for better implementation of taxiing aircraft on ground. What we did was to invent a simple GPS recording function and the ability to save the taxi waypoints to a 'flightplan', which we now call 'taxiplan' In short, start a FSX session at the gate of your choice. Select 'Start GPS recording' from the 'Extra' menu and do a precise taxi (by hand) to the holding point of your runway of choice. Them 'Stop GPS recording' and give your new taxiplan a sensible name for the flightplan direcory. Replay this taxiplan as often as you wish (select speeds from 5-10 knts) in future FSX sessions. In the update we have provided a set of demo taxiplans to taxi to and from gate 103 in EDDM.

Display Lat/Lon now works. You can now start and stop pushback from the EFIS quickselect menu. FSXPilot is now able to check for program updates.

We hope this all makes sense and you'll like it. As always - the update is free.

Takeoff

Q: Help! I have problems with "run takeoff" from he quickselect menu. My planes deviate from centerline when I am flying with crosswinds !

Please check your 'Realism settings' in FSX. Make sure you set realism to 'easy' or at least have the 'General' slider all the way to the left. That should solve your deviations during takeoff.

Landing

Q: My aircraft crashes into mountains when I use the normal automatic approaches (GPS and ILS auto landings) in FSXPilot !

We are aware of this problem. In fact, this is a limitation of Simconnect, the program that is used by FSXPilot to interface with your flight simulator. Currently there is no way to scan the landscape in front of your aircraft "in advance". Workaround: In areas with high mountains we recommend the "straight GPS landing" or "steep GPS landing".

Q: Help ! My F18 Hornet skids off the runway during automatic brake operation and after GPS auto landing !

This is not the fault of FSXPilot. But there is a simple solution. Before you fly the F18, open the "realism" options of FSX and move the "General" slider all the way to the right.

Q: Help ! Beechcraft lands on the runway text book, bigger jets cannot find the runway and end up one wheel in the  grass !

If the Beechcraft can find the runway, the others will too. You probably used short GPS landing with bigger jets. this will not work. Please use normal or straight or steep GPS auto land or use ILS landing on a ILS runway. Same is true for touch and go.

Cessna and trike -> ultra short GPS landing
Biprop, turboprop or small jet -> short GPS landing
Bigger jet -> normal or straight GPS landing
Mountain area -> steep GPS landing

Q: What is the most precise way to to land a helicopter in FSXPilot ?

GPS hover. Hover above the target, wait until GPS offsets minimize, set V/S to -100 ft/min, wait touchdown. And say awesome.

Q: FSXPilot fails runway during ILS or GPS auto land in a thunderstorm with strong crosswinds !

Yes. You should perhaps do what every real pilot would do in a similar situation: Let the autopilot fly your aircraft to the finals, then land manually. Happy landings !

Q: Can I tell Anna to ILS auto land on a specific runway at an airport ?

Yes. Assuming you want to land in Munich airport (EDDM) on runway 26R: Please issue the following voice command ("-" is a short voice break):
"fly ILS landing" - "Echo" - "Delta" - "Delta" - "Mike" - "Empty" - "Two" - "Six" - "Right"
Please note the use of the expression "Empty" here. Must be used to produce a space between airport and runway.

Q: What is the difference between ILS and GPS auto land in FSXPilot  ?

An ILS auto land in FSXPilot will take your plane to an approach entry point (calculated by FSXPilot), then turns the aircraft to an ILS entry point (again calculated by FSXPilot), then tunes in the ILS frequencies into NAV1 of your plane and follows the glideslope (produced by FSX)  until touchdown including flaps and brakes.

SID/STAR

Q: Help! Where are the SID and STARS in V 2.0 ?

To see the SID's in the quickselect menu, just takeoff from any airport. You will find the SID's in the menu as soon as you are airborne. To see the STARS (and the SID's) for any other airport you must select the airport first. Than open the quickselect menu again to find the new entries.

Varia

Q: I get an warning message when I try to add my 3rd party plane to the aircraft library and can not use the aircraft options dialog in PRO !

An important parameter is missing in your 3rd party plane files. See How to deal with FSXPilot aircraft library warnings

Q: FSXPilot fails. Program is crap !  Does not work here.

Of course it does. It has worked in thousands of installations. Landed probably a million of airplanes or helicopters. So first thing: try to calm down. FSXPilot sits at the one end, then comes a simconnect interface, then comes a flight simulator. It is all very complex. Please be patient and start to rule out problems, one after the other. The most frequent problem is that FSXPilot and a joystick or a mouse yoke fight against each other. You will see the rudders flatter and the plane not hit waypoints and become unstable. Unplug the joystick for a test. Disable mouse yoke.

If you still get problems, disable add-ons or simultaneously running processes. FSXPilot needs some computer power to generate cycles to control the aircraft. If you have intense processes running side by side (texture loading, beautiful weather add-ons,  video production) FSXPilot may not catch up with the sim world and, ind the end, fail. Please end all intense stuff for a test.  If you need help, please drop us a line, but only after you have tested a lot. Please write full, long emails with all the information you get including Windows version, FSX version, which plane, which airport, which runway, which add-ons, which graphic card, joystick disabled for a test ? mouse disabled for a test ? CTD or dysfunction ? Which dysfunction explain exactly ? Maybe attach a copy of session_dbg.txt (in FSXPilot home directory) with your email. And please don't do only 1-2 of these points, but all !

All in all, we usually do not give up until it works in the end.

If you do not like the program, simply uninstall it or delete the FSXPilot home directory from your hard drive. No registry values are written during install.

Q: Will you be supporting Xplane ?

No, probably not. Market too small and new GUI needed. We have FSX, P3D and FSX Steam.

Q: Can I tell Anna to use a correct pronunciation for the word "wind"  ?

No. At least not to our knowledge. This might be problematic especially if she would ask you for permission to pass winds. Or, as we were told, more politely requesting "May I break wind, Sir?" Never mind. If you have a good solution please let us know.

Q: Can I fly the PMDG 737 with FSXPilot ? If yes, how ?

The awesome PMDG 737 is great for flying with FSXPilot. You must register her as one of the third party aircraft in fspilot.ini. Just add the following line at the end of the aircraft database in fspilot.ini, save the file, and restart FSXPilot.

 ac??=PMDG Boeing 737,B737,180,180,280,155,8,1500,0,7,4,5,15,25

?? should be replaced by the incremented number of your aircraft list - if the last one is ac54, please use ac55. The plane underwent standard FSXPilot testing and we were very satisfied with the outcomes. Centerline GPS auto landings here. If you do not want to go through all the fuss with the cold cockpit, just load a standard FSX aircraft with engines running first on a runway, then load the PMDG 737. Have nice flights !

Q: Help - does FSXPilot work with FSX Steam edition ?

We are currently having the FSX Steam edition (SE)  and FSXPilot as the default combination on our development workstation. Works like a charm. Some users have experienced blank EFIS screens after starting FSXPilot with FSX SE. This is caused by a different version of simconnect.dll that FSXPilot normally uses (RTM Version) and FSX SE sometimes uses (Xpack version). In those cases, it is helpful to just replace the file simconnect.dll, present in the FSXPilot home directory, with the simconnect.dll (XPACK version), provided in the "simconnect alternate versions folder" within FSXPilot home dir.

Q: I am doing several flights always from the same airport, how can I set it as the "default" airport and find my way back ?

While on ground, just use the quickselect menu (the one on the EFIS, the map window) and select "remember airport as home".
Go flying.

After some time, just select "Take me home" from the quickselect menu. That's all !

Q: I use P3D standalone without a copy of FSX installed on my computer. When I start FSXPilot, I get a side by side error and FSXPilot won't start. Any ideas ?

A: Yes.

Your system cannot find a side by side application (Simconnect). Simconnect is used by FSXPilot to interface with the flight simulator software. P3D is a product derived from FSX and also has Simconnect capabilities. On a computer, on which FSX was installed first and later P3D, Simconnect is present. Good news: You do not need to install FSX in order to run P3D and FSXPilot. Just install Simconnect.

P3D has a special “redist” folder in which you can find the installers for Simconnect. So please go to this folder on your computer :

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\redist\Interface\FSX-RTM\retail\lib

then find and install simconnect.msi.

Q: I fly into small airports quite often. Some of them are not available in FSXPilot. Is there a way to overcome this ?

A: In fact there is. In Version 1.5+ you can use a different AIRAC which implements all FSX airports and runways automatically. You can even import your own FSX installation into the AIRAC. Stay tuned or try the beta.

Apart from this you can always edit the files apt.txt and rwy.txt in the AIRAC subfolder of FSXPilot home directory with a conventional text editor. Add new lines for the airports and the runways respectively, using the format of the other entries. Please make backups of the files beforehand !

The format in apt.txt (airports) is:

FYTK -19.583334  20.458334 3700  ;Tsumkwe

[ICAO code] [Lat] [Lon] [elevation in feet] [;comment]

The format in rwy.txt  (runways) is:

CYYT 29   47.625000 -52.738889 266 02591 110.30 266

[ICAO code + runway number] [Lat] [Lon] [true heading to runway] [runway length in meters] [ILS frequency] [true heading to runway again]

For non-ILS runways, please skip the last two arguments. It is VERY IMPORTANT not to use magnetic headings but true headings !!

Q: Is there a separate version of the program available for Lockheed Martin's Prepare3D ?

A: No, because the latest version of FSXPilot works great with Prepare3D version 1 and 2. No need for a separate version.

Q: Is there an updated version of the AIRAC available for FSXPilot ?

A: Absolutely. Please visit Navigraph, go to their download page, and purchase the PSS version of their latest AIRAC. This works great in FSXPilot.

This is what has to be done:

(1)  purchase and download latest PSS AIRAC cycle from http://www.navigraph.com

(2)  extract the PSS AIRAC files to a temporary location (i.e. desktop)

(3)  the extracted files now need to be changed to a format that is recognized in FSXPilot. For example, "Pssrwy.dat" has to be changed "rwy.txt", basically removing the “pss” at the beginning and changing the file format to “txt”.

Do this with all dat files.

(4)  go to FSXPilot main folder and copy the AIRAC folder to a backup location (just in case anything goes wrong)

(5)  place all the new files into FSXPilot AIRAC folder (overwriting any old ones)

Please make backups and  please keep in mind that you actual scenery and navaid data may not reflect all changes in the latest AIRAC. New airports and nav aids must be added to FSX by using appropriate bgl updates.

Q: Why does FSX flight simulator pause if I switch to FSXPilot windows ?

A: It must not pause. Find the "General Settings" dialog box ("Options" > "Settings" > "General") and un-check "pause on task switch".

Q: Why does FSX flight simulator sound stop if I switch to FSXPilot windows ?

A: As per default, sound from FSX is disabled when you switch to FSXPilot because we had some program crashes on long distance flights. In the newer versions, you can enable the sound under "options". If you experience any problems please drop us a line.

Q: Can I install FSXPilot on a client computer in a local network and control FSX that runs on a different computer ?

A: Yes. Please consult the how-to in support.

Q: Can I add my own modes (special aircrafts) to FSXPilot ?

A: Yes.

In the PRO version, please follow the instructions in this manual.

In the Shareware version, shut down FSXPilot.

Own aircrafts can be defined in fspilot.ini (since V 1.33 +).

Open fspilot.ini in a conventional text editor. Duplicate a line with a similar aircraft of your aircraft library (below [FSPilot.Aircraft]) and put it to the end of the list. Increase the 'ac' count by one. Each line currently has eleven parameters, divided by commas, no spaces. Enter the correct model longname and type. FSXPilot should now 'know' your new aircraft. Edit the parameters for your special plane or heli (have a look at a similar plane in the library list).

Assume your last ac number is ac23. A new entry below ac23 would look like this:

ac24=My fun plane,mfp,110,145,150,90,4,1000,0,3,4,5,15,30

where

ac24 is the last ac number (ac23) +1

'My fun plane' is the long name

'mfp' is the model type (very important, choose the same as defined in FSX's aircraft.cfg (atc_model))

Save. Start FSXPilot. Fly.

Q: Please explain the parameters of the aircraft library !

A: ac24=My fun plane,mfp,110,145,150,90,4,1000,0,3,4,5,15,30

This question is necessary in the shareware version only. In PRO, you have your own aircraft dialog window which explaines everything.

In shareware version, you have to edit fspilot.ini and here the question is valid.

In this line you have one aircraft with fourteen parameters separated by commas.

longname, model type, take-off speed, approach speed, cruising speed, minimum speed, holding base leg, takeoff climb, isheli (0 = no, 1 = yes), bank sensitivity, pitch sensitivity, speed sensitivity, flare altitude (meters), zero throttle altitude (meters)

The maximum number of aircrafts supported is 640. Speed in knots. Climbs in feet per min.

Q: Can I fly FSX full screen and still control it with FSXPilot ?

A: Yes, but not on the same computer, at least if you only have one monitor attached. Two monitors: Use one for FSX full screen, the other and the rest of your desktop for FSXPilot. You can fly with two computers, too. Others found out how and we reproduced this once: You must install FSX on one computer and FSXPilot on a different one in your local network. Please consult this how-to.

Q: I have a bright idea / urgent need / good suggestion for the next FSXP version !

A: Thanks for sharing any ideas.  Please contact us via email, we will do our best to realize it ...
